Job Title: Payroll and Benefits Specialist
Location: Fountain Valley, CA (100% Onsite)
Employment Type: Temporary (2-3 months covering LOA)
Pay: $26-$32/hr.
Summary
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll and benefits specialist to make an immediate impact within a leading automotive organization. In this role, you will support critical payroll processes, contribute to 401(k) and wellness program administration, and help maintain HR systems that support the employee experience.
You'll work cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and leadership while gaining exposure to complex payroll scenarios, system enhancements, and benefits strategy. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys a mix of operational execution and process improvement.
Responsibilities
Payroll & Compliance
- Own complex payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and on-time delivery
- Resolve payroll issues and discrepancies, partnering with ADP and internal teams
- Audit and reconcile payroll data to maintain clean and compliant records
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and leadership on reporting, accruals, and payroll insights
- Deliver a strong employee experience by handling payroll inquiries quickly and clearly
HRIS & Systems Administration
- Act as backup administrator for HRIS and time/attendance systems
- Maintain employee records for hires, changes, and terminations
- Generate standard and ad hoc reports for payroll, finance, and HR audits
- Support system enhancements, integrations, troubleshooting, and user training
401(k) & Benefits Administration
- Administer 401(k) program including enrollments, changes, distributions, and loans
- Maintain benefit records across HRIS and vendor platforms
- Support plan communications, reporting, and compliance activities
- Monitor participation and recommend improvements
Wellness Program Management
- Oversee day-to-day administration of wellness programs
- Promote initiatives to enhance employee engagement and well-being
- Evaluate effectiveness and recommend enhancements
General Benefits & Cross-Functional Support
- Provide backup support for benefits administration and leave tracking
- Assist with compliance updates and regulatory changes
- Support audits, reporting, and special HR/Finance projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- 5+ years of experience in HR with strong payroll, benefits, and HRIS exposure
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on payroll experience preferred
- Experience administering 401(k) or similar programs
- Strong HRIS and reporting experience
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
